BOOKSHELF PAINTINGS
Premise 1
A painting is the story of its own making.
Premise 2
Discarded bookshelves are symptomatic of changes in how information is consumed and stored.
The Bookshelf Paintings take found shelving, the literal foundation of books, as their support. As the shelves transform from side effect to special effect, from discarded to datafied support, each painting becomes both the product and primary suspect of its own investigation. The use of shelving and the imagery showcased thereupon portray an uneasy relationship with information, exploring how content performs out of context, when saturated with adjacent data or before a promiscuous attention span.
